There is a lot more depth to the characters (of course) and more of Vianne's background is filled in. The movie (as usual) takes some liberties with the original text. For instance the antagonist (as I remember - it's been a while) is the priest, not the comte. However, you may (or may not, depending on your interpretation) find more links to entrepreneurship in the greater detail available from a book. If you liked the movie – have you read the book?
